US Army Posters against Casual Sex during World War II: Features of Imagery and Narratives

This article examines the imagery and narratives used in US Army posters promoting anticasual sex during World War II. The research methodology utilizes both general scientific research methods and specific historical ones. Various US Army and government propaganda posters serve as research materials. In conclusion, the author notes that propaganda images were extremely diverse and colorful, but two broad groups can be distinguished among them: narrative-oriented posters (which featured stimulating and catchy warnings about the dangers of venereal diseases) and visually oriented posters (which presented the image of a promiscuous woman as a soldier's main enemy).
